Staging is NOT designing and if I’m staging a house to sell, I don’t decorate my clients house. I de-clutter and re-organize, and then give my clients suggestions on how to add impact to their house with a little reorganization or redesign. Where possible, I use the clients own furniture (often from different areas of the home) and may buy a few new items like slip covers, shower curtains, hand towels and accessories to give a cohesive look. My aim at the end of the day, if I do have to purchase items is to buy items that the client can take with them to their new house. Occasionally I may have to rent or purchase furniture if I feel that the client’s furniture is a little worn or dated. My goal is to stage a house so that the Realtor has the tools to sell it for the most amount of money, in the shortest time.
